There was a girl in my group who was into japanese culture (or "culture") and had been learning the language since she was 14yo or something. So the contact was established as I asked her if she could borrow me some textbooks on Japanese. I said like "Owhh, hi, I heared you can speak japanese... Languages are my hobbie, you know... whould you kindly give me some advices or tips on the language..."
So that's how it worked for me. Ask her about the things she love, let her tell you. If that's a grey-mouse-tier'ish girl - that should be pretty much enough.
