directly after calc 3 and differential i could probably explain it better but it's trying to represent something 4 dimensional in 3 dimensions but that's hard to do unless you already can visualize the fourth dimension
one way of thinking about it is drawing a cube on paper is still 2 dimensional and if you don't already understand the concept of what it's trying to express, it just looks like some polygons on a paper instead of a representation of the 3d
