Most nog attacks are just a single nigger charging you from within the 21 foot rule, in that case it doesn't matter much what gun you have as you are unlikely to empty even a 6 round revolver, by the time you're out either he's dead or he's digging in your guts with his knife and you won't be able to reload.
If it's a pack, then its even worse as the distance is similar but you have multiple targets. Either they flee when one gets shot, or they are fearless battlechimps in which case it's very grim, you're not going to fight off 3+ attackers that charge you from a realistic distance with a pistol, but in this case a high capacity magazine will give you a chance to spend a week in the ICU rather than die. You're not getting out of it without several stab wounds, but it is possible you kill them anyway and survive.
People need to remember you barely have time to pull out your gun most of the time, let alone empty it into the attacker.
