Oh, man. The only advice I can give you is to see a psychologist. And I tell you this, there is no shame in seeing a specialist. It's quite the opposite. Just look up any psychologist in your area on the internetz, call them to make an appointment and most importantly go there.

My mother was bipolar and would either spoil me or scream at me for hours. The unstable environment really destroyed me, and I hid sometimes to avoid her. I'm also having conflicted thoughts about her because she tried to end her life and almost succeeded.

She did this for hours on end, snapping at me randomly. The environment felt unstable as a child, as I never knew if I was making my mother upset. I always got mixed messages from her ranging from "I'm so glad I had children" to "I'm putting you all in foster care if you don't do what I want!"

How long did she yell at you? My mother would scream from around 10 am to 5 PM I'd say because the house became a mess due to her being bad at maintaining things and she forced us to clean up. She would sometimes even start wailing over everything. It really stung as a child who didn't know any better, especially when she would be like "everything is completely fine now" when she finally calmed down.
