Dad's side is Serb, Russian, and Croat
Mom's side is Serb and Greek
My greek ancestors fled to serbia after killing a Turk (got two other serb ancestors who killed turks and had to move far away). This was in the 1800s
Russian ancestor was a soldier or some type of small nobility. came down at or before the time of the revolution. The Croats were just a generic Vojvodina Croat peasant family
Dad's family is from Vojvodina and they did well under Communists: great-aunt was director for some medium size manufacturing firm in SFRJ and one great-grandfather was an UDBA agent. they were a fairly respectable rural family before the commies.
Mom's family is from Kosovo and they clearly did not do well. They were landowners before the revolution who got their land appropriated by the state.
I don't really have such a strong family tradition as yourself, other than "middle-upper class intellectuals" I suppose
As far as aesthetics go I look very Hungarian by way of my dad's family. Also my last name has no "ic" by virtue of the northern ancestry as well.
