Like many people, I never chose my name. It was just given to me. And it has it's advantages. It's an androgynous name, sort of like Ashley, so people are never certain if I'm a boy or a girl. Until they meet me in person, of course.
But I've noticed one thing watching television. Whenever a character is named "Tyson", I react just how I react when people call me by my birth name. I look at the screen as though they're speaking to me. Tyson is an anagram of my real name, as it so happens.
Is it a message, I wonder. I think a person should decide for themselves what they should be called. I think I really might be Tyson, and not Ashley.
