But the reason why the moon and the earth appear so close is because of perspective ratios.
If you put a marble 8 feet away in front of a baseball, stepped back about 24 feet from the marble, and zoomed in with a good camera, the marble would look very close to the baseball, even if they're far apart from each other.
The reason you don't see the earth that close up when on the moon, is because they're 30 times the earth's diameter away from each other (which makes sense in the bottom right photo.
