I think it's a combination of a lack of motivation and a lack of connections. If I had one or the other I'd be able to drag myself away from the screen, but at the moment there's just nothing there for me outside.
As a result, using the computer is like my default state of being, and I have nothing to replace it with.

i understand that, yeah. are you sure you lack motivation? if so you could start by doing really small things like sitting outside for a little bit and then gradually discipline yourself to do more things that dont involve a screen

I don't know. My thoughts on this subject aren't very organised.
It could also just be a lack of knowing what to do with myself. If you asked me to spend whole day without looking at a screen, I genuinely don't know how I'd be able to fill the time.

you arent the only one, the internet is an amazing way to kill time and escape from everyday stressors. i used to play a lot of old video games to cope with abuse, but fortunately thats all over now.
its okay to not know something, especially when it comes to this. why not take a day or two and mull everything over? maybe sleep on it.

it was gradual. as soon as i got my own place my interest in vidya began to wane as i no longer needed the escapism. i still play it for fun, but i stop as soon as i stop having fun or the game becomes too repitive.

i honestly dont mind when that happens. it might take me a bit of time and boredom but eventually i find new hobbies and ways to entertain myself, at the moment that would be image editing.
its a slow process but ive faith that you’ll figure it out anon. life is too short for us all, i’m glad to see you wanting to improve your situation than becoming completely suicidal over it. theres a lot to be said about someone who can continuously recognize their issues

Because now, before I've started working full time, is the period of my life in which I'll have the most free time. I also still have my health and my youth. It feels wrong to just waste that.

Isn't justifying your current behavior exactly what you need
If your life is heading into the dumps then obviously you need to start making decisions to steer it into a better direction
But you won't always find the motivation to do so until you can feed your brain the lines it needs to stop feeling like shit about yourself
Sometimes you need to change your behavior and your feelings will follow, sometimes it's the other way around
It all depends on what kind of person you are at the moment
