>>9129829It's fine if you're young and do it rarely, but if you have even a mildly addictive personality, next thing you know, you're an alcoholic like me that tries to quit, goes about 7-9 days sober, then goes on 5 day benders; drinking entire bottles of vodka, passing out, waking up, drinking again, not eating or drinking any water...It's not fun. My uncle drank until his liver -calcified-. Longest i've gone in the past 10 years is about 5 months. If you even get the slightest inkling you may have a problem, take a break from it for a while. I have a house, good job, and i'm good on money, but i'm an angry drunk so i've lost relationships, ran off friends, and only my family continue to hold me together. I've gotten my ass kicked in so many bar fights because I turn into the most vile human being. I've woken up in a different town in a dumpster with no pants on at my worst.I just do it at home, alone now so that I don't fuck up like that anymore.
In other words, for most people it's fine, for others it WILL fucking ruin your life. You lose time, money, physical health, mental health, relationships, etc. But for others it helps as a social lubricant and do just fine. Know yourself, know your limits, and know the signs before it gets worse.
TL;DR From an alcoholic, is bad. For a person with self control, is good. It's up to you to decide which you are.
