I think after a couple of years the creators of every game should just release the source code to the public honestly. Afterall, it's the fans who keep those games ''alive'' and the makers already got richer than Richie off it and all

Nigga, the nostalgic part, in case you missed it, was that you could download these games before there was an internet. It was the BBS system.

Carmack et al. are not like others, they relase the source code of everything after 15 years of their last game. Doom 2016 will never do that because Butthesda is EA 2.0

For people who don't live in Belgium and have comprehension skills, there is a good book called "Masters of Doom", by David Kushner, which tells the story of how Carmack and Romero created "Doom".
