At this point in time, the larger internet had just started lapping up the digested shitpile of discarded content we created. When 4chan realized that the so called "sektrit club" had been breached their first instinct was to discard everything.
For a short period in probably around 2011 memes were attacked and OC was discouraged, the popular belief being that anything that could be considered content would further degrade the website.
A meme extinction happened and with it went Advice Dog. The only survivors are Pepe and Wojak, which only happened because /r9k/ formed a bubble culture separate from the newfag flood on /b/ and other boards that believed shitposting any post that resembled old 4chan was cancer/reddit.
