If you are familiar with the story of Adam and Eve, you can see that after they disobeyed Him by eating that fruit, God had to rebuke them from his presence so that their sinful existence wouldn't get detroyed by His Holiness. Another further act of love by God is seen as He restricted their access to the Tree of Immortality, gave them robes to mask their nakedness and kept costant contact with them, meaning He did rebuke the Sin from His presence but still loved Adam, Eve and all mankind after them, so He didn't want to harm them
