Single guy who never intended to have a family.
Brother And his who had a daughter die and I end up with a three year old girl to look after.
First months were hard on her, she took time to get passed losing her parents but eventually started smiling again.
I worked from home so I was always available, we did a lot of outdoor stuff together, hiking, camping, hunting, biking. She got really fit and by five was able to keep up most of the time.
We would spend hours reading, at first i would do all the reading but I taught her to read simple words and names, she would chime in when we got up those words. By six she could read any kids book and we started on the good classics like Tarzan and Sherlock Holmes.
To introduce her to other kids we went to play groups and parks where she could meet them. When she started school she had a good set of interpersonal skills.
At school she was average to slightly above average in most subjects except math where she struggled.
Karate started at nine years and it helped her self confidence and eased my mind when she was out playing.
I gave her a rescue cat when she was ten, taught her to care for it and they were fast friends until the cat died of old age five years later.
She turned into a little bitch during puberty. I was expecting that and kept the rules simple and gave her space.
At fourteen she changed into a little lady, helping around the house and we started cooking lessons.
When she wanted to start dating seriously at sixteen we had already been through the facts of life, I did not make her promise anything about sex and she only had one problem boyfriend who tried to go further than she wanted, it she kicked his ass and walked home.
She tried collage, media studies and media law but dropped it after the second attempted rape and issues with campus security. Went into a few entry level jobs and became the first girl roofer in the area.
Married an architect at twenty five. Now thirty and happy.
