Lidl is a shit tier store. Dirty, trash offers, awful bread in their bakery section. They also put beer cans in the display fridges and large bottles of booze in the "why not grab this" section at the checkout.

Its pretty okay quality wise here, compared to other foreign chains. I just dont like they sell a lot of autistic german product i dont want, and the local stuff is often hard to find there. But at least you can be relatively sure you are buying actual edible food, unlike chains like Tesco where they sell spoiled vegetable and their salami is actually minced rotten meat with shitloads of spices to hide the taste.

A big political topic here right now is the fact that foreign shops sell inferior food products here, compared to their motherland. I believe the situation is improving, but it wasnt uncommon for foreign companies (especially before we entered EU) to collect expired product in germany, change the sticker with expiration date and sell it here. Ofc it always went through middleman so you couldnt officially make the dirrct link

I am vehemently against Aldi and made that known in your threads yesterday. Aldi is absolutely god awful when it comes to customer service, and most of their products suck. But they are cheap and affordable.

Is LIDL significantly better than Aldi? From my understanding it is supposed to be a more upscale Aldi, correct? What is the difference between them? Lidl also sells cigs and booze, right?

Having people bag the groceries for you is basically non-existent in Europe or in most of the world outside of Burgerland.

Most stores here are moving towards self-checkout so there's like 2 cashiers staffing the registers at best.

Here there's basically a small army of highschool kids in every grocery store. They bag and will push your cart of groceries out to your car for you if you want. Most people have their first job at a grocery market, it's good work experience.

Our darker skinned New Swede friends are pretty fast usually so it isn't a problem, but not as fast as when they try to jump the sliding door at the self-check out and rush the exit, guard in hot pursuit.

Pretty much all Aldi's in the US, but specifically those in low income neighborhoods, all have an armed guard. There are usually 2 or 3 employees, only one of them being cashier, along with an armed guard standing next to the door in case you try to shoplift or start shit. It just makes it so depressing going to Aldi. Major grocery stores that are normal or high class in suburbs, sometimes down the street from an Aldi, won't have any armed guards

We have two ALDIs where I live. It's the go-to place for all the super poorfags because all their shit is off-brand. Went there once and it's arranged like a fucking maze. Efficient sure, but God forbid you forget something. Also, the lazy fuck cashiers don't bag your groceries.
