I first listened to Bach's music when I was just twelve years old.
They had to drag me there against my will.
But - Oh!! :
when I heard that music filling the vast space of a huge Cathedral and overwhelming every nerve in my body throughout the whole human range of the audio spectrum:
I was totally blown away - I'd heard so much polyphony before :
but nothing like Bach's incredible masterpieces,
played one after another - each one seeming to be even better than the previous one.
It was like I had suddenly discovered all the greatest treasures of mankind;
the glorious secrets of the universe.
