>>9405814my disagreement with isekai is it is an immediate red flag that the anime is likely trash, that the MC is going to be a self-insert and either useless but beloved by all the other characters, or overpowered and thus immune to defeat. it's power fantasy: NGNL was incredibly guilty of that and i will always point to it as the worst example i've seen
even konosuba, which was a better one, i still felt a little put off by it. a lot of times the isekai idea contributes nothing to the plot - you can write a blank slate MC without needing to do the spiel. isekai is just lazy writing designed to just deliver action and/or sex interest to a "relatable" character as fast as possible without any need for plausibility or characterization. that seems to be what they're going for and they accomplish that with flying colors but i'm not about to call that good, it's just marketable writing. like the equivalent of a junk food in media form
>>9405818it still sounds like a boardroom meeting because it sounds like "the rush to meet a deadline" and i can get that in the workplace
i'm not attacking that specific anime but the idea in general. it's not conducive to a good script unless one is a fantastic writer. it's like how i read a joyce short story once where it was about a guy thinking about his marital affairs and life while going to bed. that's such a boring idea on its face and you'd have to be a phenomenal storyteller to pull that off
and the image limit is over so that's it for this thread
