Why is the west so obsessed with egalitarian, all inclusive ideals in video games?

>Japan releases Nier: Automata, Zelda: BoTW, Persona 5

>West releases: BF1 (with black and female soldiers), Mass Effect Androgynous (Awful looking game), and For Honor (Black vikings)

They're playing on people's desire to customize their characters in any way they want, while also appearing politically correct to those who give a shit about that stuff. From a business standpoint it's not a bad idea. BotW did a similar thing by adding all the new customization options, although they didn't add the option to change your race or gender obviously because link is an iconic character, and it would gave come off like they were sacrificing the most iconic feature of their game in a desperate attempt to grab a different audience.

I'm playing ghost recon wildlands now and I love the fact that I can change my appearance and customize guns whenever the fuck I want instead of having to find a workbench or whatever
