piranha are shoaling fish. keeping just one would most likely stress it out and it woul die in a matter of weeks. i would say keeping them in groups of 3 or 4 would be ideal. they also get pretty large, so keeping them in a 70 gallon system would be your best bet for a healthy group. there are however many videos and websites stating that piranhas arent viscious pack hunters, but are instead shy, docile fish that prefer shaded areas and cover. there are much more carnivorous and dangerous fish that exceed the expectations people have for piranhas, such as exodon paradoxus.

another great group of fish that are way more viscous than piranhas are the cetopsis genus (specifically cetopsis coecutiens) but they are considered to be one of the most rare fish in the aquarium hobby, which makes finding them a pain in the ass.

pretty much a while back, i lost interest in keeping what i would call "normie" fish. pretty much just angelfish, danios, corys, and gouramis. they were all very colorful and awesome in their own ways, but the only problem is that i see them everywhere. whether it is some fish stores logo or its somebody sharing their tank online, i always saw thise fish everywhere. thats about when i moved on to much more rare and "oddball" species of fish. some of the fish i tried taking care of included ameca splendens, banjo catfish, african butterfly fish, and african leaf fish. im pretty sure i had all of these in one tank at some point, but it was probably one of the most spectacular assortments of fish i had ever owned in my entire life, and thats pretty much when i gave up on common fish store fish.

will they survive in there?
there's some fresh water crayfish living in the stream where i collect my moss. i figured that they needed flowing water. I've also seen them get pretty big.

pretty cringe. kept too many crawfish in my life, most of which have been wild. they are 99.9% of the time hiding, even at night. the only time i ever see mine is if im doing a water change. and even then sometimes it never comes out

im almost certain crayfish cant survive in an environment like that. not enough moisture to pass through their gills. plus even if they could, they would tear up your moss to shit.

if the tank were a little bit bigger, i could give an entire list of fish that would be perfect for a scape like that. hoplos, festivums, twig cats, maybe even some kind of botia to replace the corys. the main thing with people who have stained tanks like this is that they really like to put in neons or some other colorful ass fish because "MUH CONTRAST LOL" which ends up ruining the whole scape
