>>9460438No. And good luck convincing a boomer of this. Take my boomer parents. Their parents were single-income households where one parent worked at a factory. Their parents earned enough money with only one working to support the family, AND have savings to help my parents buy a car, start a business, and buy their first home. My father supported our family with his business as a photographer. That business spiraled into obsolescence thanks to Walmart and smart phones right after he had decided to retire, so he didn't get to sit there and watch his livelihood vanish before his eyes.
So both of my parents just scratch their heads in bewilderment as to why their own kids couldn't do much with their lives. Neither has helped me or my siblings with getting started in life, because they've convinced themselves over the years that they're self-made and we should do the same thing, too. Nevermind that the jobs their parents worked and the job MY DAD worked are all gone. Just fucking gone. They think there is something wrong with my sister who works at Walmart and can't build up a life savings, even though Walmart yeeted my dad's job. They never stop and think, not for one fucking second, how all the jobs they could have (and were well paid to do) are now all gone. They think they're SMART when they have those nice Mexicans who work for cheaper mow their lawn - Why, they're saving money! And those Mexicans are so nice and such hard workers.
