It is okay for a real man to commit suicide, so long as he has decided that life has become too painful, on average, and he'd rather not live that way any more. Seneca himself committed suicide.
But first, like a responsible man, he got all of his affairs in order; notified his beloveds well ahead of time; and prepared beforehand a method of dealing with his corpse.
Most people forget to do that. It is simply unpolite to leave someone to clean of your blood and guts and brains off of everything. Your poor mother, having to deal with that. That's just the wrong way to do it.
But no, as I said. After he did all that, he chose a dignified manner in which to leave the world; he took a bath with lilac, and slit his wrists.
I believe this is model for all suicides. Your last action in this world should certainly not be disrespectful for all of those who will still remain.
