Both of these guides are terrible. The gas masks have issues due to active ingredients which are expired by now; so if you do pick one up check the filter dates. The food storage pic is just stupid.

It's really to address a caloric shortage, and a fat shortage.

None of those ingredients are particularly fat rich, or calorie dense - you would need to eat quite a bit of them. The cooking oil closes the gap somewhat.

My advice on this would be that's it's not terrible. Not exactly the most space per calorie or calorie per dollar, but it has the advantages of being light, edible raw, and you can eat them pretty normally if you want. I.e., if this all turns out to not be necessary, you didn't waste money on things you didn't use and won't use.

For instance, I cook rice, beans, oats, raw pasta, lentils, etc. Often enough that I just pad deliveries with them, - I need $35 for free delivery, so let's fucking buy $7 of beans, whatever.

I did that on Tuesday. I have 6 kids though. And spent 250. Went to discount food market Clerk eye fucked me, but in a good way. Like he knew what’s was up to and agreed. This is ontop of the other kit I have. Good eating for 3 weeks. Refugee status then for the next 3 months which I never expect to happen. But I’m prepared. I have what the Mormons call super buckets. It’s a 7 gallon bucket they fill up with dried grains into a Mylar bag then throw dry ice into and seal. Then they throw dry ice and seal the bucket with the lid. Each bucket is 40 bucks
