Phoenix police say they have removed $2.5 million worth of fentanyl pills from the streets of Phoenix as part of a drug bust with a Drug Enforcement Administration task force, according to a police statement released Friday.

After learning about a Phoenix man supplying local drug dealers with fentanyl pills earlier in the month, the task force stopped 20-year-old Alexis Meza in his car near 24th Street and Thomas Road on Thursday night, the police statement said.

The task force found 122,000 fentanyl pills in his vehicle, according to the police statement. Upon searching his apartment near Indian School and 43rd Avenue, they found a large quantity of fentanyl pills, cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, firearms, and thousands of rounds of ammunition, according to the police statement.

In total, the task force seized 137,100 fentanyl pills, three kilograms of fentanyl, 38 pounds of methamphetamine, one pound of marijuana, $5,000 in cash, seven handguns, two rifles, ammunition, and four vehicles.
