And they're of a swarthier appearance than e.g Northern Italians, who have a "Mediterranean look". Spaniards are overwhelmingly of European origin, and the core genetic similarity they have with e.g Arabs comes from the fact that modern Spaniards had 7 centuries of Roman colonization before the fall of the Western Roman empire, and the Romans colonized the entire Mediterranean for the same period. Arabs and North Africans are part-Roman. Spaniards as a group aren't part Moorish or Arab.
