Race relations are shown realistically as antagonistic (and not in a preachy racism=bad type of way but just as a fact of life). Government is corrupt and only alpha males are successful, though success is fleeting

The relationships between Tony and Carmella also shows the duplicity of women. And the spoiled retarded children Tony has are also a revealing critique of the modern brainwashed youth, truly the best show in memory
