It wasn't just a nation that worshipped YHWH. They started off coming out of paganism. And they would go back and forth. Judges would rise up and bring them back to YHWH and then as soon as those judges died they would go right back to paganism.
We see mention of the Star twice.
For reference to modern Jews we can see it said in the book of Acts by a Jew named Stephen, at Acts 7 who goes through the history of the scriptures and at verse 42 quotes from the prophets that they took up the tabernacle of Moloch and the Star of Remphan.
We can see that at Amos 5:26 that they had taken up the tabernacle of Moloch and the Star of their god Chiun.
The Hebrews were rebuked in Amos for the Star image. It belonged to the pagans. Because again, you have to understand the nation wasn't just worshippers of YHWH, it went back and forth with pagans, and it did right from the start.
