>>9540169Quite possibly has the same benefits for addiction since it is also an NMDA antagonist and disassociative anesthetic (same class as Ketamine, PCP, and nitrous oxide).
DXM is most similar to Ketamine, but it's still a good deal different. I'd say it is still a bit more different from Ketamine than LSD is from mushrooms.
I don't know of any research showing that DXM causes the same spike in brain derived neurotrophic factor as ketamine, so it might not be as effective for depression. It could have similar effects though.
Hallucinations on DXM aren't like tryptamines (LSD, etc.) Very different drug. Hallucinations don't "grow," or "bloom," rather sense of scale or perspective goes. You can seen giant. Word and concept association separates from objects. The body load is also much higher and you're way more visibly intoxicated. You'll look 12 beers deep.
It's worth noting though that DXM isn't used recreationally often because it has a shit side effect profile. Recreational doses (100-600mg) cause nausea in most people. Throwing up is very common even with pure powder. People also get opiate itches from it. It takes two hours to kick in so it's hard to titrate, and then has 24 hour after effects.
