Nothing you can currently build with readily available parts or diodes will be able to cut a tank in half. There are fiberoptic steel cutting lasers but these cost tens of thousands of dollars and are very short range, talking millimeters.

The best use I can think of for these would be to use the unfocused/diverged beam to flashblind your opponent quickly before dispatching them by other means or escaping. A focused beam could easily burn darker people from great distances but this will likely just piss them off so I wouldn't recommend using them for that.

That's why I'm saying to build your own. I'd recommend Nichia (Japanese) or Osram (German) diodes. Anybody who researches handheld lasers for more than a few hours will realize quickly that Chinese manufactured lasers are absolute garbage and to be avoided.
