Around 6 months later i was not a lanklet anymore.
Felt amazing to meet up with friends I hadn't seen in a year and getting compliments from them.
Not sure what exactly motivated me, at some point it just becomes a habit and it feels like you are too far to quit.
The first two weeks are probably the hardest, because you are not mentally and physically used to the stress and will probably have shit form and generally no idea what you are doing.
In my experience people at gyms are glad to help you and give advice, so just ask if you don't know what the fuck you are doing.
Also make sure to browse /fit/ daily.
