When we were in the 90s, we complained that it was lame, and we were in a post ironic era. We were so fucking wrong. Looking back, the 90s were comfy as all fuck. Almost as good as the 80s, and much better in some ways. 9-11 fucked the universe up so badly. Everything since, is legit horrible by every metric.
80s 90s was PEAK FREEDOM in the US. There was plenty of fucked up shit going on, and the global walls were already closing in on us, and people knew, but we were still yet to see the effects. The 80s were awesome. Entertainment was at its apex. Blockbuster movies were being made that delivered. Music was still fun. Hangin out at the park, smoking dope. we got to see computers advance through the 90s, and see the connections being made across the internet. Desert storm was the best thing that ever happened to bunkerfags, because it was so built up and so quickly successful that afterwards, you could get literally anything for dirt cheap at the army navy surplus, like ANYTHING. Dont let people fool you, we were not naive to what was coming, but there was so little you could do about it, all there was to do was sit back, relax, and ride out the greatest wave of badass, American as fuck, comfy, aesthetic, until they closed the vault, and it was all gone, forever.
The one thing I can say, that may be better now, is the amount of people, able to truly see the strings being pulled, and who's to blame, because of the internet. There are an infinitely greater number of people, waiting to absolutely wreck shop, the moment the gloves come off, because they are way more aware of what has happened.
But for anyone who missed the 80s and 90s, I feel worse for you, than anyone, at this point. I can only pray, that this next generation starts bringing it back.
