The bow requires practice, skill, and a degree of personal strength. Crossbows are easier for those who need to just point and shoot, and a belt hook/foot loop will allow you to draw any usable crossbow.
I'd take a 60 lb longbow, unless I was planning to cower behind my pavise like some filthy Genoese mercenary.
