My friend on Discord is turned away from Christianity because the church he attends with his faithful wife openly ridicules homosexuals. If Jesus is quoted as saying “judge not, lest ye be judged” and to treat others as you would have them treat you, and that love covers over a multitude of sins, is it scripturally sound to persecute homosexuals? I’m straight, Catholic, and I hate evil, but I believe it is not a Christians place to attack a sinner. Hate the sin, love the sinner, right? I welcome Christians and non Christians alike to discuss this question: how can I help my friend have faith when the church he goes to is openly hateful?
