Thousands....millions. A single death is pointless in the face of it all. What matters more is preserving ideas, ways of life, peoples at large....etc.
What's worse than killing 90% of the squirrel population? Castrating them. Because in one instance, their species survives, in the other, it doesn't. Showing shock images of grisly death to provoke an emotional reaction really shouldn't be the deciding factor on national policy, or ideology.
