It's more accurate to say that 1oz is 1/8th of a cup. When plastic cups were invented this threw a lot of people for a loop because 1 oz suddenly became a lot lighter and that's when Canada stopped using cups to measure everything. Do you know the speed of light in cups per second? What about oz per second?
