In a true capitalist system, the kind that workers were sold on and lied to and told it would be better than what they had, was predicated on this belief that prices would constantly, incessently, decrease towards $0. That competition and a free market would ensure that prices always go down, supply of goods always goes up.
It was all lies. Now we have state granted monopolies, pseudomonopolies, natural market driven monopolies, and they create situations where prices only ever go up.
