If you take even a cursory look into how those "pray the gay away" programs and other methods to "cure" gayness work out for the people that use them, it is typically not a good idea. Now I'm not an absolutist, so I won't tell you that being gay is impossible to change or that these things could never work, but I've seen little evidence of success when it comes to a gay person changing into a straight person, and based on that it might be more fruitful to try to accept yourself and become okay with being gay, because if you try to change it for years and then fail you'll feel like absolute shit and you'll hate yourself and what you are and that is what makes people kill themselves, as people have done after attempting conversion therapy.
