It's a Satanist masterpiece. The literary version i believe won a fucking Nobel Prize. It's a pretty shit film. But conceptually it's sound. It's Johnny Depp descending into evil. He gets chosenby the devil to be the devil's hero. He starts as a petty thief and then step by step commits every sin usually against richfag Satanists who don't deserve the devil's blessing as much as he does. All the powerful Satanist bigshots fuck up their communion with the devil one after another and then die because Depp basics forest Gumps his way into killing them and committing another sin. And then at the end he fucks the sexy devils emissary and crosses the 9th gate and becomes the devil or whatever.
And then in real life Depp goes from underappreciated niche actor to Disney's main guy, makes 100+ mil as captain Jack Sparrow, fucks his whole life up for a roastie, and becomes a joke.
RDJ should be very careful.
