>file indexeri dunno why it started acting up but it doesn't like that i now have a lot of subdirectories like programming projects or bulk stuff i've copied over, and one of the things i downloaded in mid-february sent it over the edge and now i have to kill it as soon as i start or it will take the whole CPU and the whole RAM and actually risk crashing the thing. this one i discovered immediately because it crashed my computer more than once, but it makes me not want to restart very often
>programs not actually exitingi'm not sure why they started recently doing this i think the last OS update i did changed this, but big programs like vlc weren't exiting when i closed them and so they were sitting in the background with all their virtual memory reserved for no reason. i discovered this one earlier today
>browser threading on lots of tabsthis was what i just discovered with that last thread, with all my tabs, yet again, some update changed my settings or something that the browser would open processes to keep all my tabs alive, and i have a shitton at any given time so this was killer. even a small handful is enough to be a lot of processing. previously my browser would freeze tabs that weren't active so they were just a way to open a certain page quickly, but apparently now it was trying to keep that many sessions and whatever was loaded in them alive, including ads, videos, w/e
getting rid of all those SHOULD resolve the issue since processmanager is now showing everything at modest resources, but idk. i fucking hate system updates for this reason and i put them off forever because they always break shit
