>>9920263As I understand it, there are a few different applications.
Road tunnels
Civilian contractors have talked about driving 18 wheelers across state borders. These tunnels are multi purpose logistics tunnels, most likely connecting adjacent facilities that are no more than a few 100 miles apart.
Claimed high speed rail.
I don't believe there are maglev trains personally, I see no reason why one would waste time and resources to put a maglev train in a tunnel, when a conventional train is more practical for the applications the military would use such tunnels for.
These tunnels however are said to span large distances, across entire states, to connect installations far apart.
I have never seen anyone claim these are maglev trains for passenger transport, if anything they are logistic tunnels for supplies and equipment primarily, as this is the advantage of ground transport compared to air.
Maglevs lack capacity, and can only carry a fraction of what a conventional train will do.
And to answer your contrived and illogical smug statement:
In the event of a nuclear war, the tunnels provide safe passage, it is not a hop-on / hop-of tourist bus that you ride to visist bob your friend in the next state.
They are likely in a state of readiness or hauling sensitive equipment during peace time, occasionally used for something that has to remain hidden.
Is it really so hard for you to think? It must suck to be this DUMB.
All you edgy critics always work of false assumptions and logical fallacies it does not matter what the topic is here.
