Nakanotori exists primarily to give me freedom regarding the ethnicity, race, and culture of characters since the island is basically a multicultural Japan. There are many ethnic enclaves, tourism is a big industry, and many want to immigrate there and/or move there for work reasons.
The second reason the island exits is to give me freedom to make up as many locations as I want since the size of the island and the number of smaller islands around it will never be specified.
