>>2842880>I imagine most day-to-day life is about farmingWhen I wrote general day-to-day I guess I really meant stuff like socializing and interpersonal dynamics. How is her reputation affected by the nudity any more than the accusation of witchcraft? Do colonial women even go out enough to get harassed regularly? When she gets her clothes back, does she simply go back to churning butter?
It's hard to imagine a way to make a 'sexy' enf story about a woman cleaning her family's house for 16 hours a day without veering into incest territory. This, on top of the fact that everybody else is going to be spending their day with the same workload and I feel that enough affordances have to be made in the interest of a good story that I may as well have not picked a colonial setting in the first place. This is the main reason why I prefer keeping my settings contemporary; It helps people get into the shoes of the protag (or one of the onlookers).
I'm not saying it can't be done, but every time I try to come up with concepts for a period piece they end up either underwhelming (she sews clothes at home for the evening) or overwhelming (the town puts a ring-gag in her mouth to stop her from chanting spells).
>I don't think it even really needs an endingI've made the mistake of writing 'open-ended' stories like this before; I come up with a really cool idea for a future plot only for the story to veer in a different direction because of spectacle creep and the like before I can have the plot come to fruition. Constantly trying to one-up the previous chapters eventually limits your options, especially when you want to keep the story ecchi instead of slowly developing into full-on hentai; So I try to have an end-goal in mind to build to in order to keep the plot moving at a steady pace while staying true to the original idea.
While writing this post I began to brainstorm a few ideas that make a 'ye olde-fashioned' setting work, so back-and-forth writing like this helps out.
