I finally got around to watching Universe, it was a big letdown
lots of filler episodes, ending is arbitrarily sad but then 'whoops everyone is possibly back,' character decisions make little sense, ryoko is alive again with no explanation
the original show cleverly explained why each girl was interested in tenchi, universe made no attempt to do so, and in fact only ayeka and ryoko were making any effort at all, tenchi himself seemed completely emotionless which made him even less interesting
the worst part is that washu is now more of an irrelevant side character, with no character development, and no explanation for the existence of ryo-ohki and ken-ohki
