After raising the sexual tension with a lewd misunderstanding, instead of quickly disposing of it in an explosive burst of emotion, you can repurpose that sexual tension and use it to springboard the next lewd moment. I didn't realize until I saw this how much potential gets wasted by the "punch MC through a wall and then forget about it" approach, but I'm happy to see a good counterexample.
