I figure creating rough drawings of the characters and using img2img and inpaint for different facial expressions would mitigate the AI's tendency to be inconsistent with the details. It'd still be a lot of work and would probably be a bit controversial though. I wouldn't release it outside of /e/, but there's still the concern that the original model creator would find it and be upset about it.
