The main benefit is being able to tag your images pretty much like a booru. You can either make your own tag database or use the public one the developer set up. I pretty much prefer the tagging method to messy folder structures.
It will download images from various booru sites, and automatically import tags. It has a 4chan thread watcher, and some other things too, like a dumper that I haven't tried to use yet. It can let you rate images on a scale of your choosing (1-5, like/dislike, etc).

If I see something I don't like, I can just click to make it active and press deleteHydrus has a filter mode, where left clicking keeps a pic and right click deletes it. Pretty similar to what you are doing.
