She unlocks the door for us and hushes us outside; so we do. To tell the truth we’re a little confused on what we should be doing, so we just stand there awkwardly for about a minute.
“You’re new, right?” A girl passing through says. “It’s fine, just grab a tray and either deliver orders from the kitchen or go to table that calls you and ask politely what they want. Super simple. Just don’t stand there doing nothing and you’re fine. Seriously, if you can’t figure out what you ought to do you should not be here.”
“A-and what about me?” I ask.
“Oh, in the kitchen there’s a closet with mops and cleaning products and stuff. Grab what you need and keep the place clean. Oh, and be VERY mindful when you come into the kitchen or out of it, okay? Seriously, keep the door closed at all times and don’t open if there’s a creep nearby.”
a) There’s an empty table with some spilled coffee, take care of that.
b) I suppose the floor is always in need of more moping? I mean, there are people walking all over.
c) Go talk to the other cleaning girl I saw. I’ll rather don’t take the initiative and be told what to do.
