It worked well to have an unbeatable abstract antagonist for the main characters to figure out how to avoid or at least try to. The same could work for this ENF story if there's a supernatural basis for all the humiliation to occur. I'm not implying to go full anthropomorphic with this specific concept rather I'm brainstorming ideas of who or what is causing the humiliation and the event that transpires that kickstarts the humiliation in the first place. So a Shinto god is what came to mind to explain the "unseen force" aspect if the story wants to take the supernatural route.
