Personally I never use the spot healing/clone unless there is a specific pattern on the images (eg Grainy with noise). I just use brushes and go from there.
While the stock brushes aren't bad, it would be more beneficial to create your own brushes for particular uses ( My ones include Sketching, Blocking, Blending and Inking) it just makes processes slightly faster but the stock brushes can perform the same task.
When drawing I recommend using reference images and knowing the difference between blending and blur will significantly make your images look better. Also I tend to use many layers when editing different elements of the image.
Maybe I'm just talking out of my arse as my edits are decent but not god quality so some other shoopers may have more to say. I will post something that may be helpful to new shoopers. It was not created by me but the other shooper who used to be a frequent here.
