"Three:" she responded, this time forgoing accompanying her monologue with with fingers to instead resume her long-delayed journey into Samus's bodysuit, "your swimsuit's in your other suitcase, right?"
Not liking where this was going, I replied "Yeah, it's with my clothes and toiletries and stuff... why?"
"Well, we can always just get you into that and put a wig on you." She explained. "Not really top-notch cosplay, but it'd be better to cosplay so-and-so in a swimsuit than no one at all." As she finished explaining, she finally negotiated her bodysuit fully over her ample chest, and began the much simpler process of sliding her arms into the sleeves, which she promptly finished, at long last fully dressed.
This time my attempt at polite had a little less effort behind it. "And four?" I asked, without really aknowledging the swimsuit idea at all.
"Four..." she trailed off. "Do you trust me?"
Taken aback, I thought about her words. As much as I didn't like where this was going, Chiaki was probably my closest friend. I had no choice but to answer honestly. "Yeah."
"I've got scissors, a sewing kit, paint and markers, and enough tape and scraps of fabric to constitute an above-average cosplay-repair kit. If you give me the benefit of the doubt," a long pause, "and amnesty for destroying one of your outfits, I can probably cut and snip what you've got on now to somewhat resemble SOMEONE's outfit. I'm not sure who's yet, but I know I can swing something." Her face was the perfect combination of confidence and doubt.
"So not wearing a costume this year is out of the question?" I asked.
"Absolutely." She replied. "What's it going to be?"
