Heavy use of the Pen tool for masking, a layer for every effect: one for the seams, one for the desaturation to remove skin color in some areas, one for the eyes, one for the hair cutout, one to override certain areas that shouldn't be touched in some cases, etc. This particular shoop was a little rushed; I had already done it once, but the power went out just minutes before I was about to save and export to PNG. As a result, some of it isn't really the greatest (the aliasing/broken linework around the base cutout, for instance). This particular one was pretty easy though, just some vector masking.
