Everything seems to work well so far, including the 3D viewer. I had problems with files that had Japanese characters on the path, but changing the runner to wine-ge-proton8-17 fixed that.
I'm not getting any mojibake. I don't know exactly what made it display correctly, but I had installed cjkfonts and allfonts, set language to Japanese in the compatibility settings, set LANG to ja_JP.UTF-8 in the environment variables settings, and run this workaround:
